BAGUIO CITY — Baguio City has recorded 41 confirmed Covid-19 cases so far this year, with a noticeable increase beginning in May, Mayor Benjamin Magalong said.
Despite the uptick, Magalong assured residents that the situation remains manageable and that the circulating virus is Covid-19.
According to the mayor, all reported infections have been mild, with most cases involving healthcare workers and hospital personnel rather than the general public.
“Notably, the majority of these cases are concentrated among our healthcare workers and hospital staff, not the general public,” Magalong said.
He said the City Health Services Office, in coordination with local hospitals, is closely monitoring the situation and implementing appropriate response measures within the city’s health facilities.
Magalong directed health authorities to remain vigilant and strengthen infection prevention protocols in hospitals while assuring the public that Baguio’s healthcare facilities remain safe and fully capable of serving the community.
He also urged residents to continue observing basic health precautions, including wearing face masks in crowded places, washing hands regularly, and staying home when feeling unwell.
“We will continue to provide timely updates as needed. Let us face this with calm and confidence, not fear,” Magalong said.
