CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — Local officials have stepped up disaster preparations ahead of Super Typhoon “Bavi,” which is forecast to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility late Tuesday or early Wednesday and will be named “Inday” locally.
Mayor Vilma Balle-Caluag convened an emergency session of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council at the Civic Center Command and Control Center on 7 July to finalize response plans and ensure all systems are on standby.
The typhoon’s projected track has prompted all city departments to raise alert levels. The session was attended by Councilors Mark Joseph Carreon and Elmer Bengco and was led by City Administrator Atty. Kristannico Abad and City DRRM Officer Raymond Del Rosario.
Mayor Caluag emphasized proactive action, directing teams to strengthen response capabilities and prioritize immediate aid for barangays likely to suffer the worst effects.
The CDRRMO presented its Pre-Disaster Risk Assessment and impact scenarios to guide planning. Officials also confirmed readiness across all critical sectors: peace and order, logistics, evacuation management, education, health, search and rescue, and relief supplies.
Authorities said they will continue monitoring the situation closely and urged residents to stay updated through official announcements and strictly follow all safety advisories.
