The Philippines was recognized as the World's No. 1 Retirement Destination in the Expatriate Group's Retirement Abroad Index 2026, surpassing more than 180 countries.

As of 23 June, a total of 86,292 foreign retirees—primarily from China, South Korea, the United States, and other countries have chosen to make the Philippines their second home.

Philippine Retirement Authority (PRA) CEO and General Manager Roberto “Bob” Zozobrado revealed a program for retirees called “We Care,” which is created to integrate them into the community and allow them to explore the rich culture of the Philippines.

“Having activities specifically designed for them helps them feel that they are wanted here in our country,” Zozobrado said.

In line with its 41st anniversary this July, the PRA said it will hold a series of activities in Davao, Metro Manila, Pampanga, and Baguio to make retirees feel that they are being cared for and supported.

“With this, they will find it easier to adapt to the communities where they live and feel that they are part of a family. That is exactly what we want them to experience,” Zozobrado added.

As PRA enters another year of service, the organization hopes to create more opportunities for retirees to choose the right home for them, and at the same time, strengthen the Philippines’ position as the top retirement place.
