For many Filipino students, financial challenges can make pursuing higher education difficult. Through the SM Scholarship Program, however, scholars are gaining opportunities to complete their studies and build successful careers.

One of them is Ivy Concepcion, a former SM scholar who now serves as a tenant relations officer at SM City Baguio.

Concepcion said the scholarship allowed her to finish her Civil Engineering degree while easing the financial burden on her family. It also opened the door to employment within the SM group.

"Natulungan ako na makapag-graduate sa gusto kong course na Civil Engineering. Super grateful kasi natulungan kami ni SM na maitaguyod ang buong college ko. Hindi lang iyon, natulungan din niya akong magkatrabaho," she said.

She now takes pride in giving back through her work at the mall.

Another beneficiary, incoming scholar Rose Atelba, said the scholarship motivates her to excel in school and inspire other young people facing similar financial struggles.

"Pagbubutihin ko ang pag-aaral ko at maging inspirasyon sa ibang kabataan na wala ring pang-aral. Huwag tayong tumigil kahit ano ang pagsubok dahil laging may darating na biyaya," she said.

For Rose's father, the scholarship provides reassurance that his daughter can complete her education and build a better future.

Jerico Bernardo, mall manager of SM City Baguio, said investing in education is one of the most effective ways to help communities grow.

He said the scholarship program not only supports students during their academic journey but also helps develop future professionals and leaders who can contribute to community progress.

By guiding scholars from the classroom to potential employment, Bernardo said the program creates opportunities that extend beyond graduation and into long-term careers.
