Mayor Nancy Binay led residents and devotees over the weekend in celebrating the Rosas ng Sampiro Festival, a street dancing and cultural event held annually to honor the city’s patroness.
Binay joined the festivities Saturday in Barangay Poblacion, marking the feast of the Virgen dela Rosa de Macati.
She was accompanied by local councilors and Bambi Mañosa-Tanjutco, the city’s tourism and cultural affairs chief.
The festival featured 10 performing groups from various schools and barangays in Makati.
The troupes staged vibrant street dance performances featuring faith-inspired choreography and colorful costumes.
Instead of staying on a single stage, the performers rotated through multiple historic sites in the Poblacion district, including the Museo ng Makati, Plaza Cristo Rey and the Saints Peter and Paul Parish.
The celebration also featured marching bands and a large floral carpet created as a symbolic community offering to the patroness.
Binay said the festival serves as a reminder of the city’s identity and shared history.
“The Rosas ng Sampiro Festival is a celebration of who we are as Makati residents,” Binay said. “It brings together our faith, our culture, and our people while honoring the traditions that have shaped our city through generations.”
