Makati integrates local tropical fabrics into city gov’t uniforms

The local government of Makati is integrating locally sourced tropical fabrics into municipal operations, outfitting employees in uniforms designed to showcase native craftsmanship and support domestic textile producers, Mayor Nancy Binay announced Wednesday.
Binay signed a landmark agreement Tuesday establishing Makati as the first local government unit to partner with the Department of Science and Technology Philippine Textile Research Institute (DoST-PTRI) under its performance evaluation and adoption program for Philippine tropical fabric uniforms.
The initiative expands on legislation Binay championed during her tenure as a senator.
The mayor cited that the project uses municipal purchasing power to honor local craftsmanship.
