Former lawmaker Mike Defensor has filed a rejoinder before the Department of Justice (DOJ) in response to the cyber libel complaint filed against him by former senator Antonio Trillanes IV.
At the same time, Defensor urged the Senate to continue its investigation into allegations raised by the so-called "18 Maleta Boys," saying the inquiry should extend beyond the witnesses who have already testified.
"I am calling for the investigation to continue and for everyone involved to be summoned so that the alleged corruption can be exposed," Defensor said.
He said several individuals linked to the allegations, including other members of the group referred to as the "18 Maleta Boys," have yet to be invited by the Senate.
"There are still many who have not been called. Aside from those who have already appeared, there are still several others who can testify," he said.
Defensor also called on senators to summon former Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin and former Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman.
According to Defensor, their testimonies could help establish what transpired and clarify the alleged flow of money tied to the claims.
He said a more extensive investigation is needed to determine what really happened and how the alleged cash was delivered so the truth behind the allegations can be established.
