Hannah Montana is back!
Miley Cyrus and Disney+ jointly announced the Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special, set to premiere on 24 March.
“Going back to where it all began,” the announcement read.
According to Disney+, Cyrus will appear live for an in-depth conversation with host Alex Cooper, reflecting on the legacy of Hannah Montana — one of pop culture’s most iconic television characters.
In the hit series, Cyrus portrayed a teenage girl living a double life as a global pop star, while her real-life father, Billy Ray Cyrus, played her on-screen dad.
The special will revisit memorable moments from the show, highlight its music, and feature Cyrus’ personal reflections on filming the beloved series.
It will also showcase never-before-seen footage and reconstructed set pieces, including Hannah’s closet and the Stewart family living room, filmed before a live studio audience.
The Emmy-nominated franchise became a global phenomenon, spawning two feature films — Hannah Montana: The Movie and Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert — and producing 14 platinum and 18 gold albums worldwide.
“Hannah Montana will always be a part of who I am,” Cyrus said. “What started as a TV show became a shared experience that shaped my life and the lives of so many fans. This ‘Hannahversary’ is my way of celebrating and thanking the fans who’ve stood by me for 20 years.”
Disney Branded Television president Ayo Davis described the project as a “love letter” to generations of fans who grew up with the series.
Cyrus also serves as executive producer of the special alongside Tish Cyrus-Purcell, Cooper, and Matt Kaplan.
Ahead of the premiere, Disney+ will launch a dedicated nonstop stream beginning 19 February featuring all four seasons of the series and its two films.
The Hannah Montana catalog has amassed more than half a billion hours of global streaming to date.
