Miley Cyrus says embracing sobriety has been the most transformative decision of her life, calling it her “God” in a recent interview.

Reflecting on a journey that began in 2019, the pop star, now 32, said that sobriety has reshaped her identity and fueled her creativity.

“I need it, I live for it. It's changed my entire life,” she said.

Though she relapsed during the pandemic — a moment she publicly acknowledged in 2020 — Cyrus now views that period as a necessary part of her personal growth.

“Life had more lessons for me,” she said, noting that she had to “fall one more time” to reach her current clarity.

The Flowers singer said her earlier struggles were difficult, but they helped her reconnect with her values and purpose. “There were times... they hurt, I’m not proud of them,” she admitted.

Cyrus, who lost her Malibu home in the 2018 wildfires, previously described the experience as a blessing in disguise that brought her a renewed sense of gratitude.

She emphasized that while sobriety has been critical to her life, it’s not a path she expects everyone to follow. For her, the commitment remains personal and ongoing.
