Malacañang on Thursday clarified that there have been no discussions regarding the possible appointment of Patrick Gregorio as secretary of the Department of Tourism, amid social media speculation about a leadership change at the agency.
The clarification came after an online news site reported that Gregorio was set to assume the post currently held by Christina Garcia Frasco.
“As of now, wala pong pinag uusapan na ganyan,” said Palace Press Officer and Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary Claire Castro.
Castro earlier said President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. continues to have full confidence in Frasco.
Gregorio was appointed last year as the country’s sports czar and has served as a hotel and sports executive under the MVP Group of Companies. He currently sits as chairperson of the Philippine Sports Commission.
