Cagayan de Oro City — Two unidentified men posing as delivery couriers shot and killed a 60-year-old former security officer outside his home in Barangay Dangawa.

Police Lt. Col. Alexander E. Eugenio, chief of the Maramag Municipal Police Station, identified the victim as Ronie Valenzuela.

Initial investigation revealed that Valenzuela was at home recovering from head injuries sustained in a recent accident when two masked individuals on a black Kawasaki Bajaj CT100 motorcycle arrived.

The suspects claimed they were there to deliver a parcel.

When Valenzuela went outside to receive the package, one of the suspects confirmed his identity before drawing a pistol and firing.

The first shot missed, leading to a brief scuffle as the victim attempted to fight back. The suspects eventually overpowered Valenzuela and shot him twice in the head.

The gunmen fled the scene immediately after the shooting. Valenzuela was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Investigators are still searching for a motive. Family members told police that Valenzuela had no known enemies and had not received any death threats prior to the attack.

The Maramag police have launched a manhunt to identify and locate the suspects.
