The North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) will increase its tolls starting 20 January 2026, raising fees by P6.00 in the open system and P0.26 per kilometer in the closed system.
According to NLEX, the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) authorized the toll adjustment, noting that it followed the prescribed regulatory process and underwent a thorough review.
“This represents the second and final tranche of the approved periodic toll rate adjustments originally due in 2023. To mitigate the impact on expressway users, the increase was previously deferred and implemented in two tranches,” NLEX said.
Under the new toll matrix, motorists traveling within the open system will pay an additional P6 for Class 1 vehicles (regular cars and SUVs), P12 for Class 2 vehicles (buses and small trucks), and P16 for Class 3 vehicles.
The open system runs from Metro Manila in Navotas, Valenzuela, and Caloocan to Marilao, Bulacan, while the closed system covers Bocaue, Bulacan to Sta. Ines, Mabalacat City, Pampanga, as well as Subic-Tipo.
Motorists traveling the full NLEX route between Metro Manila and Mabalacat City will pay an additional P24 for Class 1 vehicles, P60 for Class 2, and P72 for Class 3 vehicles.
Periodic toll adjustments are necessary to ensure safe, efficient, and quality expressway service, while maintaining the long-term viability of privately funded infrastructure.
“To help minimize the impact of the toll increase on inflation and support food price stability, the tollway company will continue the government’s toll rebate program for vehicles transporting agricultural products accredited by the Department of Agriculture,” NLEX said.
From 2022 to 2025, NLEX has undertaken infrastructure improvements to enhance safety, mobility, and convenience. Key projects include:
Completion of the SFEX Capacity Expansion and the Candaba 3rd Viaduct
Road raising in the San Simon area
Expansion of the Meycauayan Northbound Exit and construction of the new F. Raymundo Northbound Exit
Upgrades to roadway lighting and furniture
Safety enhancements and repairs on bridges and overpasses
System enhancements and equipment upgrades to improve the motorist experience
