A former member of Anakpawis surrendered to Bataan police in Barangay Lamao, Limay, Bataan on 18 December 2025.
According to Bataan Police Provincial Office Director Police Col. Marites Salvadora, the surrender followed an intelligence-driven operation conducted jointly by the Bataan Police and the Philippine Army.
The individual, identified by the alias JR, is a 20-year-old resident of Sitio Paliparan in Barangay Lucanin, Mariveles, Bataan. Police said he had disaffiliated himself from Anakpawis and withdrawn support from the communist terrorist group.
Salvadora said that as proof of his full withdrawal from the group, the former rebel voluntarily surrendered a caliber .45 pistol with one magazine and two rounds of ammunition.
She encouraged remaining members of rebel groups to return to the fold of the law and assured them of government assistance through the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program.
