Miss International Philippines 2024 Myrna Esguerra unveils a breathtaking ode to heritage and womanhood through her national costume, “Perlas de Sampaguita,” a creation that fuses the country’s most cherished symbols into one luminous masterpiece.
Designed by Richard Strandz, the ensemble pays homage to two treasures deeply rooted in the Filipino soul: the iridescent pearls found in the country’s seas and the sampaguita, the national flower revered for its simplicity, fragrance, and quiet strength.
In this interpretation, these icons intertwine with the classic silhouette of the traditional Filipiniana, resulting in a look that radiates purity, elegance, and the unyielding resilience of the Filipina spirit.
Every detail—each strand, embellishment, and flourish—works together to portray a woman who is gentle yet unbreakable, graceful yet powerful, embodying the essence of the modern Filipina standing tall on the international stage.
Captured through the lens of Chester Sigua, the costume comes alive in photographs that highlight its iridescence and intricate craftsmanship, while the styling of Geof Lagria ensures that Myrna’s presence remains the beating heart of the visual narrative.
Completing the regal look is footwear by Mariqueen, adding sophistication and stability to an ensemble made for a queen. More than a pageant segment, “Perlas de Sampaguita” becomes a visual love letter to the Philippines—its culture, its artistry, and its women—reminding audiences that the Filipina shines brightest when she carries the weight of her heritage with pride.
With this national costume, Myrna Esguerra steps forward not only as a representative of the country, but as a celebration of it, echoing the sentiment: Pilipinas, ipinagmamalaki kita—the Filipina way.
