The province of Bulacan was named the nation’s top performer in Local Source Revenue Collections for Fiscal Year 2024, the Bureau of Local Government Finance (BLGF) announced this week.
Bulacan’s locally sourced revenue collections reached P3,393,740,000, besting 82 other provinces across the country.
The recognition was presented at the BLGF’s 38th Founding Anniversary and Stakeholders’ Recognition event held Wednesday at the SMX Convention Center Aura.
The province secured two additional major distinctions for its financial performance. Bulacan ranked Top 3 in the Ratio of Local Source Revenues to Total Current Operating Income, and Top 9 in Yearly Growth of Local Source Revenues.
BLGF executive director Consolacion Q. Agcaoili said the awards acknowledge the pursuit by local government units (LGUs) to generate sufficient income to deliver essential goods and services.
Agcaoili cited that in today’s landscape, LGUs face increasing demands that make their role “more challenging yet more critical than ever.”
Fernando, on the other hand, dedicated the awards to the people of Bulacan and thanked the provincial employees who worked to achieve the honor.
“We will use these awards as inspiration,” the governor said. “We will strive even harder in our service. We will raise the level of our service to you, our beloved Bulakenyos.”
