ILOILO CITY — The Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC) in Western Visayas will be on Blue Alert status from 30 October to 4 November 2025, as part of intensified efforts to ensure public safety and disaster readiness during the Undas observance.

Thousands are expected to travel and flock to cemeteries across the region, prompting authorities to activate a multi-agency coordination system aimed at preventing incidents and ensuring quick emergency response.

In a memorandum dated 27 October, OCD-6 Officer-in-Charge Atty. Melissa Banias said the alert status ensures “prompt coordination” with concerned agencies and local government units (LGUs) throughout the long weekend.

Under the directive, LGUs are required to activate their Incident Management Teams (IMTs), place responders and equipment on standby, and report untoward incidents to the RDRRMC Operations Center for proper action.

“This collective readiness is key to a safe and casualty-free Undas,” Banias emphasized.

OCD-6 Director Raul Fernandez, meanwhile, urged residents to stay cautious and cooperative, stressing that public vigilance is a crucial part of the region’s safety framework.

“We remind everyone to prioritize personal safety—secure your homes before leaving, place candles safely, and follow basic health and safety protocols while visiting cemeteries,” Fernandez said.

The RDRRMC Operations Center will maintain round-the-clock monitoring of the situation across Western Visayas and coordinate closely with emergency responders, LGUs, and other partner agencies.

Authorities reiterated that the success of the region’s Undas operations depends on both government coordination and public discipline.

“A peaceful and incident-free Undas is everyone’s responsibility,” Fernandez added.

The Blue Alert activation reflects Western Visayas’ multi-sectoral approach to disaster preparedness—placing people’s safety at the center of its holiday operations.
