PNP finalizes nationwide security plans for Undas

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has ordered police units nationwide to finalize security preparations for the observance of All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day on 1 and 2 November.
PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said police assistance desks, patrol teams and emergency response personnel would be deployed around cemeteries and other areas expected to draw large crowds during Undas.
“We will deploy police assistance desks, foot patrols, mobile teams, and emergency response units in and around cemeteries to ensure that help is always within reach of the public. We will maintain a strong and visible police presence in key areas so families can focus on honoring their loved ones with confidence and peace of mind,” Nartatez said.
The preparations follow the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., through Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla, to strengthen public safety measures during national holidays.
Malacañang has declared 1 and 2 November special non-working days.
In Manila, the Manila North Cemetery will be open to visitors from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. from 29 October to 2 November.
Nartatez said concerned police units would be placed on heightened readiness to respond to emergencies and other security concerns throughout the observance.
“Your PNP is fully prepared to provide round-the-clock security and rapid response throughout the Undas observance, with all concerned units placed on heightened readiness. Every Filipino should feel safe while observing Undas so we will remain vigilant against any threat to public safety and order,” he said.
Police assistance desks will also help visitors who become separated from family members, require medical assistance or fall victim to theft and other crimes.
Authorities expect increased foot traffic in cemeteries and surrounding roads as families visit the graves of departed relatives.
Nartatez urged the public to remain vigilant, observe cemetery regulations and cooperate with police personnel.
“As we honor the memory of our departed loved ones, let us also look after the safety of the living by remaining vigilant, following cemetery rules, and cooperating with authorities. The PNP will do its part to help ensure that every family can remember their loved ones in peace, dignity, and security,” he said.
