Liza on Enrique split: 'I was genuinely expecting us to get married'

Liza Soberano got candid about her split with former love team and ex-boyfriend Enrique Gil.

In an episode of the Can I Come In podcast, the 27-year-old Filipino-American admitted that it has been three years since they called it quits.

She said, "Originally, the reason why we haven't said anything about it is because Enrique or Quen asked me not to say anything about it first. And I think — I don't want to speak for him — but I think it was coming from a place of not wanting it to be real."

Liza also confessed to feeling scared about what might happen to her career.

"And this is coming from the people-pleaser side of me because I was so afraid that if people found out we weren’t together anymore, my career would go bad or, you know, people just wouldn’t love me anymore."

But, she couldn't just ignore the signs of being unhappy, adding that her toxic habit of pushing away anything that bothers her didn't help.

"We are already eight years together and I was genuinely expecting us to get married, but then that didn't happen," Liza said.

Enrique has since deleted his "I love you" comment on Liza's latest TikTok post.
