The body of a woman abducted in Ormoc City was found Monday in the seawaters off Barangay 99-Diit, police confirmed.
The Police Regional Office 8 said the body was positively identified as the same woman who was reported missing after being abducted on July 31 in Ormoc City.
A fisherman discovered the corpse, which police identified through the victim’s tattoos and physical features. Her identity was later confirmed by family members at a local funeral home.
According to earlier reports, the victim was forcibly taken by three unidentified armed men in Barangay Valencia, Ormoc City. The suspects fled toward Kananga, Leyte, in a black vehicle.
Police Brig. Gen. Jay Cumigad said all efforts are being made to uncover the circumstances behind the woman’s abduction and death.
“We are committed to pursuing justice for the victim and her family,” Cumigad said.
Law enforcement units across the region are continuing their joint investigation.
