Sharlene San Pedro came to the defense of BINI, who were relentlessly bashed over spliced videos of the group while tasting Pinoy snacks in a popular vlog.

BINI guested in a foreign YouTube channel, People vs. Food, where members Aiah, Colet, Maloi, Gwen, Stacey, Mikha, Jhoanna and Sheena were made to taste 11 iconic Pinoy snacks composed of mixed nuts, kwek-kwek, hopiang baboy, choco nuts, isaw ng baboy, yema, balut, betamax, mamon, turon and taho.

Not a few of the members didn’t like some of the snacks like hopiang baboy, isaw ng baboy, betamax

and balut.

Some spliced videos that surfaced on the Internet made it appear that the nation’s girl group condescendingly talked about snacks they hated. Netizens felt the members of the P-pop girl group were “maarte (excessively finicky), feeling foreigner and feeling K-pop.” With this, BINI was bashed relentlessly left and right.

Exasperated over the uncalled-for bashing, Sharlene San Pedro defended BINI on X (formerly Twitter).

“pa rant.. bakit kaya ang daming taong nagrereact at humuhusga sa naka trim down na video? kahit ‘di niyo pa naman napanuod yung buong video sa yt (Just wanted to rant... why are there so many people who react and judge in the trimmed down video? Even if you have not watched the entire video on YouTube),” she said.

“saka hello, ‘di talaga lahat ng pinoy ay trip ang lahat ng Filipino food (And hello, not all Pinoy like all Filipino food),” she added.

She concluded her rant by saying: “panay ride niyo sa hate train kasi relevant ‘yung subject (You’re always riding the hate train because the subject is relevant).”
