Abang J officially launched its Philippine branch during a partnership signing ceremony between Malaysia and the Philippines held Thursday, 26 June, at the Embassy of Malaysia in Makati.
“Another significant milestone of our country’s collaboration in reaching the Halal industry in the Philippines. This highlights the commitment of the private sector in expanding Halal to more consumers," said His Excellency Dato' Abdul Malik Melvin Castelino, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Malaysia to the Philippines.
The ambassador added that beyond promoting Abang J’s products, the initiative also reinforces diplomatic and economic ties between the two countries.
Datuk Koh Chung Jade, managing director of Jetsin Sdn Bhd (Abang J Malaysia), said the brand resonates with Filipino culture, pointing to the country’s strong traditions around food and social gatherings.
“This brand is a very easy, ready-to-eat-, ready-to-cook brand, where everyone can enjoy the food together. More time to enjoy the food. Abang J Satay is actually a party food. This helps us build more opportunities in the Philippines because the Philippines is a great market. We help the Philippines as well: the local farmers, SMEs, etc. Today marks this day for all these wonders,” he said, expressing gratitude to local partners for supporting the launch.
Ambassador Castelino also acknowledged the growing presence of Halal offerings in local restaurants and eateries, appreciating how Philippine establishments are embracing Halal cuisine.
Jade emphasized the practicality of Abang J’s food items, noting they require minimal equipment to prepare, which saves time.
Meanwhile, Director Aleem Siddiqul Guiapal said Abang J would contribute positively to both the culinary and tourism industries in the Philippines.
The memorandum of understanding between Abang J Philippines and 12 Fold Ventures Corp was signed by CEO Ruby Bañares Victorino, Abang J Philippines Chairman Paul Darwin M. Parungao, and CEO Jose Antonio Chua.
The event concluded with a ceremonial plaque signing to mark the official launch of Abang J products in the Philippines, led by Managing Director Aleem Siddiqul Guiapal, Malaysian Ambassador Castelino, Chairman Parungao, and CEO Chua.
