In celebration of Amun Jadid, or the Islamic New Year, several provinces and cities across Region 12 and parts of Mindanao will suspend work on Thursday, 26 June 2025, to honor this significant religious occasion in the Muslim community.

In General Santos City, the Local Government Unit (LGU) announced the suspension through Memorandum No. CMO2025-June-JMA-1810. Work in government offices will resume on Friday, 27 June 2025.

The Province of South Cotabato also declared a similar suspension, encouraging reflection, peace, and unity as part of the Amun Jadid observance. However, essential offices such as the Provincial Jail, Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, and Provincial Hospitals will continue operations, with only Muslim employees excused to join the religious celebration. Non-Muslim personnel are expected to report for duty to maintain uninterrupted services.

Meanwhile, the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF-Zampen Region IX-A) declared the same date a non-working holiday in accordance with Presidential Decree 1083. The announcement covers several provinces with significant Muslim populations: Basilan, Lanao del Norte, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao, North Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, and Zamboanga Sibugay.

Cities observing the holiday include Cotabato, Iligan, Marawi, Pagadian, and Zamboanga, where local governments are expected to hold cultural and religious activities celebrating the arrival of the new Hijri year.

Amun Jadid marks a time of spiritual renewal, community solidarity, and cultural heritage, reflecting the country’s deep respect for diversity and interfaith harmony.
