A DAILY TRIBUNE (DT) staffer was injured in an apparent case of reckless driving during a hit-and-run incident Wednesday night in Barangay Tandang Sora, involving a teenage motorcycle rider.
CCTV footage shared by DT's chief photographer Yummie Dingding on Facebook shows that around 10:30 p.m., as she was about to exit a MoveIt motorcycle taxi on Banlat Road, another motorcycle carrying two young men slammed into them. The impact knocked both Dingding and the MoveIt driver to the ground.
The rider sustained scrapes on his hands and knees, while Dingding was left in pain and temporarily unable to stand.
"I felt disoriented—almost deaf—as he tried to speak to me. It was as if someone had punched me hard in the left ear," she added.
Dingding said she went through a medico-legal examination and her medical bill reached P11,000, which was covered with assistance from the Social Welfare department.
Barangay and police authorities later recovered the motorcycle involved — a SkyDrive with the plate number N012091.
By 11:09 a.m. Thursday, Dingding said she had spoken with the person believed to be the motorcycle driver. She said he appeared to be a 14-year-old boy who had allegedly taken the vehicle without permission.
Local officials have yet to release a statement on possible legal action involving the juvenile suspect.
