The Department of Justice (DOJ) issued a strong condemnation on Tuesday following the fatal shooting of Mauricio “Morrie” Pulhin, Chief of Technical Staff of the House Committee on Ways and Means, assuring the public of a full and relentless investigation into the crime.
Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla emphasized the department's commitment to justice, declaring:
“This Department has the full capability and unyielding resolve to pursue and capture those responsible. We will be working hand-in-hand with the Philippine National Police and the National Bureau of Investigation, dedicating every appropriate resource to ensure these criminals are identified, apprehended, and made to face the full force of the law. We will leave no stone unturned until justice is swiftly and decisively served.”
Remulla underscored the gravity of the incident, noting its impact on those in public service.
“Let me be clear: we do not take cases like this lightly, especially when they target those in public service,” he said.
The DOJ chief also acknowledged the public’s demand for answers and swift accountability.
“We understand the public's need for answers and swift action. Every lead will be followed, every piece of evidence examined. No viable option will be ignored.”
Remulla concluded by urging the public to assist law enforcement authorities.
“We call on anyone who may have information, no matter how small, to step forward and share it with authorities. Your cooperation is crucial to the success of this investigation.”
He assured: Justice for Mr. Pulhin will be served.
