BALER, Aurora — The number of monkeypox (mpox) cases in Aurora province has risen to 17, according to the Provincial Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (PESU).

PESU data show that the cases were recorded between 1 January and 14 June 2025.

The agency reported one additional confirmed case, which has since recovered, as well as one new suspected case.

“A total of 17 monkeypox cases have been reported since January 1, 2025. Of these, 15 are suspected cases — nine of which remain active — and two are confirmed cases,” PESU stated.

Currently, six suspected cases are still awaiting laboratory test results, while another six have tested negative for monkeypox.

The PESU also emphasized that no deaths have been reported in the province this year.
