A 23-year-old Filipino man wanted for rape was arrested on 12 June at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 after arriving from Hong Kong.
In a statement Saturday, the Philippine National Police - Aviation Security Group (PNP-AVSEGROUP) said the suspect, a resident of Dagupan West, Tabuk City, was intercepted by agents from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Quezon City District Field Unit and the Aviation Security Unit.
Authorities said the arrest was based on a warrant issued on January 22 for rape charges under Republic Act 10883 or the New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016. The law imposes life imprisonment if rape or homicide is committed during a carnapping incident.
The suspect is now in the custody of the CIDG Quezon City unit at Camp Karingal pending further legal proceedings.
