The Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group (PNP-AVSEGROUP) reported Monday that two individuals with outstanding arrest warrants were apprehended Saturday at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 as they were about to depart for Hong Kong.
Authorities said the Aviation Security Unit NCR (AVSEU-NCR)-NAIA Police Station 1 and Anonas Police Station (PS-9) of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) jointly served the warrants against the 39-year-old man and the 59-year-old woman, both residents of Marikina City.
The PNP-AVSEGROUP said the arrest warrants were issued 13 June 2024, for violation of Section 5 of Republic Act 8042, the Migrant Workers and Overseas Filipinos Act of 1995, as amended by RA 10022.
The warrants specifically cited illegal recruitment by a syndicate, and no bail was recommended.
“This operation highlights the PNP AVSEGROUP’s commitment to ensuring that individuals facing serious charges are held accountable,” PNP-AVSEGROUP director PB/Gen. Christopher M. Abecia said.
“As part of our Care Meets Action Program, we continue to work together to apprehend wanted individuals and ensure a safer, more secure airport environment for all travelers,” he added.
The suspects are currently detained at the Anonas Police Station (PS-9) for documentation and inquest proceedings.
