Manila Doctors Hospital (MDH) honored the legacy of its late Chairman, Dr. George S.K. Ty, through a meaningful community initiative that culminated in the official turnover of donations supporting cancer patients.
As part of the hospital’s 6th annual “Celebration of Life and Legacy” last November 2024, employees and doctors participated in the Cups of Courage, Brew for Hope pledge drive—each cup of coffee purchased symbolizing a commitment to help cancer patients.
The drive raised a total of P56,956, officially turned over on 28 May 2025 to the Cancer Institute and Corporate Social Initiatives Office (CSIO). The funds will support the Box of Hope project and cancer support groups that assist patients undergoing treatment.
“This contribution will be used to prepare and distribute Boxes of Hope — special care packages that bring comfort and encouragement to our cancer patients,” said Dr. Cherry Fernando, Head of MDH’s Cancer Institute. “More than a physical package, it’s a reminder that our patients are not alone in their journey.”
Launched in October 2024, the Box of Hope contains curated items that provide warmth, inspiration, and emotional support to individuals battling cancer.
