The Office of the Vice President (OVP) launched the OVP Libreng Sakay program at the OVP Eastern Visayas Satellite Office in Tacloban City on Monday.
In partnership with Uycinco City Tours Inc., the OVP held a ceremonial prayer and blessing for the new bus.
The Libreng Sakay program aims to provide free rides to assist commuters and support existing public and private transportation systems.
Since its launch on 3 August 2022, the program now operates nine free-ride buses serving Metro Manila, Naic-Cavite, Cebu, Bacolod, Davao, and Tacloban.
According to the OVP’s Special Projects Division, the program has served a total of 2,347,369 commuters nationwide.
