CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — The NEST (Nurturing Emphatic Support and Treatment) Wellness Hub, a primary HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) treatment hub located at the City Health Office, was officially opened on Friday in commemoration of the International AIDS Candlelight Memorial and Mobilization Day.
The activity was attended by various government agencies, stakeholders, partner organizations and individuals.
City Councilor Maria Lourdes Gaane, vice chairperson of the City AIDS Council, in his message explained that more than commemorating the lives lost to HIV and AIDS, it is also important to continue expanding and intensifying the campaign against the disease through educating, testing, and providing support to people living with HIV.
In her part, City Health Officer Dr. Rachel Daba-Dilla, hopes that through extensively educating the public will reduce “stigma” and discrimination against people living with HIV/AIDS.
