Elizabeth Banks is passing on the torch to Elle Fanning. 

The actress and director seemed to give her approval as Fanning will portray the young Effie Trinket in Sunrise on the Reaping, the latest movie prequel of the best-selling franchise The Hunger Games. 

In an Instagram story, the 27-year-old Emmy nominee shared that the A Complete Unknown actress sent a bouquet of flowers with the message “Elle, congrats on Effie. May the odds be ever in your favor. All love, Elizabeth Banks.” 

Fanning joins Joseph Zada as Haymitch Abernathy, Whitney Peak as Lenore Dove Baird, Mckenna Grace as Maysilee Donner, Jesse Plemons as Plutarch Heavensbee, Maya Hawke as Wiress, Kelvin Harrison Jr. as Beetee, Lili Taylor as Mags, Ben Wang as Wyatt, Ralph Fiennes as President Snow, MollyMcCann as Louella, Iona Bell as Lou Lou and Kieran Culkin as Caesar Flickerman.  

Sunrise on the Reaping premieres on theaters 20 November 2026.
