Prime Video is heading back to the beginning of the Elle Woods' story.
Elle, the upcoming Legally Blonde prequel from Hello Sunshine and Amazon MGM Studios, will launch on 1 July, streaming exclusively on Prime Video across more than 240 countries and territories. Even before its first episode drops, the series has already secured a second season order.
The first season rewinds the clock to Elle Woods’ teenage years, exploring her high school life and the formative moments that shaped her into the confident, trailblazing woman audiences first met in the original Legally Blonde film.
Reese Witherspoon, who helped make Elle Woods a pop culture icon, shared her excitement about returning to the character’s roots. She described the series as a long-held dream, noting that finding newcomer Lexi Minetree to portray a young Elle has been especially meaningful. Witherspoon emphasized that the show celebrates self-belief, kindness, and staying true to yourself — values she believes will resonate with longtime fans and newcomers alike.
Elle was created by Laura Kittrell, who also serves as co-showrunner and executive producer alongside Caroline Dries. The executive producing team includes Witherspoon, Lauren Neustadter, Marc Platt and Amanda Brown. Jason Moore directed the opening two episodes and also executive produces.
Leading the cast is Lexi Minetree as Elle Woods, joined by June Diane Raphael and Tom Everett Scott as her parents, Eva and Wyatt. The ensemble also features Gabrielle Policano, Jacob Moskovitz, Chandler Kinney, and Zac Looker, with a robust lineup of recurring guest stars including James Van Der Beek, David Burtka and Jessica Belkin.
