Four people, including the gunman, were killed in a shooting incident during a flag-raising ceremony at a barangay hall in Dasmariñas City, Cavite on Monday morning, the Police Regional Office 4A confirmed.
Three of the fatalities were barangay officials, while the fourth was the suspect, identified as "Ariel," a 50-year-old former barangay tanod.
According to police, Ariel approached the flag ceremony from behind and immediately opened fire with an unidentified handgun, targeting officials gathered at the front of the barangay hall.
Another barangay official was injured in the incident and is currently receiving medical treatment.
Authorities said the suspect later shot himself. He was rushed to St. Paul Medical Center but was declared dead.
Police are still investigating the motive behind the attack.
