Music legend Billy Joel is hitting pause on his global tour following a diagnosis of a rare brain condition called Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH). The condition, which affects the flow of cerebrospinal fluid, has recently caused hearing, vision, and balance issues for the iconic performer, according to a statement on his official website.

Doctors say that while NPH is uncommon, early treatment can significantly improve outcomes. Joel, 76, shared that the condition worsened due to recent concert performances. “I’m sincerely sorry to disappoint our audience, and thank you for understanding,” he said.

The cancellation affects a packed schedule of shows across the US and UK that would have run through mid-2026. Joel’s health update comes just ahead of the premiere of a new documentary about his life, Billy Joel: And So It Goes, at the Tribeca Film Festival on 4 June.

With decades of chart-topping hits like "Uptown Girl" and "New York State of Mind," Joel remains one of pop music’s enduring figures. Last year, he wrapped up a historic 10-year residency at Madison Square Garden, drawing millions of fans and grossing over $260 million.
