Nueva Era, Ilocos Norte — A 37-year-old truck driver was arrested in a buy-bust operation on the afternoon of Monday for the alleged violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The suspect, a married resident of Brgy. Catucdaan, Cabugao, Ilocos Sur, was apprehended at around 3:00 p.m. by the Nueva Era Municipal Police Station during an anti-drug operation.
Recovered from the suspect were approximately 0.3 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of Php 2,040. The illegal drugs were contained in five heat-sealed sachets. Authorities also seized one red coin purse, one genuine Php 1,000 bill used as buy-bust money, one knife, a Vivo Y20 cellphone, a Nokia keypad phone, a red Cricket lighter, and a red Kawasaki Rouser motorcycle.
The suspect was taken to the Nueva Era Police Station for documentation and later underwent a medical examination at the Rural Health Unit.
Charges for the violation of RA 9165 are being prepared for filing in court.
