A forest fire was reported along the mountainous boundary of Barangay Sto. Niño in Nueva Era, Ilocos Norte, near the Solsona–Apayao campsite and the Ilocos Norte–Apayao Road.
The blaze affected areas around kilometer posts 534, 535 and 536, as well as markers C60, C61 and C62, and extended toward the mountainous portion of Solsona, Ilocos Norte.
Personnel from the Nueva Era Police Station received the report at about 10:40 a.m. on 27 January 2026 through a phone call from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)–Nueva Era.
Responding teams immediately proceeded to the area, led by personnel from the Nueva Era Police Station, with firefighters from BFP Nueva Era and BFP Solsona, members of the Forest Protection Office (FPO) Nueva Era, and personnel from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources–CENRO Laoag City.
Firefighting operations were conducted upon arrival to contain the blaze. Authorities said weather conditions in the area were windy, with light rain showers during the response.
As of this reporting, the forest fire remains ongoing and is being closely monitored by authorities. The total affected land area has yet to be determined.
