Kris Aquino, the “Queen of All Media,” is once again opening her life to the public — this time with a personal revelation. On 10 May, through a series of candid Instagram updates, the actress and host shared her ongoing health challenges, a glimpse into her family’s quiet trip to the Monasterio de Tarlac, and her growing desire to relocate somewhere beyond the chaos of Metro Manila in search of peace, healing, and — above all — fresh air.
Aquino, who has been battling a complex mix of autoimmune diseases, revealed that she recently experienced a severe flare-up. “Grabe yung lupus flare,” she wrote, detailing symptoms that included a dangerously high fever of 40.2°C, a purplish-red face, and a spike in blood pressure to 165/112. “My lungs ang pinaka nahihirapan (most challenged),” she said, referencing her multiple and rare autoimmune conditions. Despite being confined and undergoing medical tests — including a 2D Echo and an upcoming PET scan — Aquino continued to update her followers through her son Bimby, who stepped in to document their family’s recent activities.
In one of the videos, Bimby is seen visiting the serene Monasterio de Tarlac alongside family friends including singer K Brosas, close confidante Mommy Loi Villarama, and makeup artist Bambbi Fuentes. It was a quiet yet significant trip, considering the Aquino family’s deep roots in Tarlac — a province Kris may soon call home again.
Kris’ reflections also highlighted her heritage: “My lolo Pepe Cojuangco was born in Malolos, Bulacan… My Lola Ma is a Sumulong from Antipolo, Rizal. My Lolo Benigno and Lola Aurora are both from Tarlac.” With the Aquino family compound in Tarlac’s second district still standing, Kris disclosed plans to renovate the home. “Tarlac is less than 90 minutes away once you enter NLEX… and my need is immediate.”
Her criteria for a new home are clear: somewhere with fresh air, a cooler climate, and access to quality healthcare. “The sea breeze will be wonderful,” she mused, even asking followers for suggestions on ideal locations. “Where will I be able to breathe fresh air?” she asked earnestly, underscoring her desire for a healthier and more grounded lifestyle for herself and Bimby.
More than just a health update, Kris’ posts were also filled with gratitude. She thanked her online “prayer warrior warriors” for their steadfast support and encouraged others not to lose faith, even as she shared that she’s now been diagnosed with nine autoimmune diseases — with a tenth one recently identified.
