Antonio Agapito “AA” Legarda was officially proclaimed as the Representative of the Lone District of Antique for his second term on Wednesday, pledging to further advance the programs and initiatives he had previously launched for the province.
AA, who is also the brother of Senator Loren Legarda, called on his constituents to join hands and work together to continue the development of Antique.
“Now that you have given me your trust again for a second term, I desire even more to return the love and support you have shared with me — through more expanded, more honest and Aksyon Agad service for our beloved province of Antique,” AA said in vernacular words.
In the recent election, AA secured a commanding 205,842 votes, comfortably defeating his closest rival, Dodod Adiao who earned 118,184 votes.
Other candidates, Toto Abiog and Mayong Petinglay received 980 and 685 votes, respectively.
Notably, AA stood out as the only lawmaker from Panay Island who refrained from signing the impeachment complaints against Vice President Sara Duterte.
The newly reelected representative expressed heartfelt gratitude to those who supported his campaign.
He also took the opportunity to acknowledge the tireless efforts of his sister Loren, recognizing her significant contributions to the development of Antique.
“I am deeply grateful not only to our compatriots who showed support and trust in your Aksyon Agad sa Kongreso — especially to our beloved Team Legarda, but I am also grateful for your solidarity with us in conducting a quiet, orderly and peaceful campaign full of respect and unity,” he said.
“Indeed, silence and unity are our strength as true Antiqueños,” he added.
