CAMP PFC CIRILO S TOLENTINO, BALANGA CITY, Bataan — To gain additional knowledge in handling and managing explosives, selected members of the Bataan Provincial Police Office (PNP), led by Col. Marites Salvadora, police director, underwent a rigorous training and seminar on Wednesday.
Col. Salvadora said that the seminar and training "reinforced the police’s commitment to public safety and operational readiness," with participants taking part in an Explosive and Safety Awareness Seminar conducted by Orica Philippines, a global leader in commercial explosives and blasting systems.
The seminar, facilitated by Orica Limay site manager Anthony Siguoin, was held at Orica’s facility in Barangay Lamao, Limay, Bataan.
Salvadora pointed out that the explosive seminar was attended by law enforcement personnel, technical experts, and safety officers for a comprehensive knowledge-sharing session. Topics covered included the safe handling, identification, and transport of explosive materials, emergency response protocols, and regulatory compliance.
"PNP personnel gained critical insights into the latest industry practices, hazard mitigation strategies, and coordination procedures between law enforcement and private sector partners," Salvadora emphasized.
This collaboration enhances the police force’s ability to respond swiftly and effectively to explosive-related incidents in the province.
Orica Philippines highlighted its continued support for capacity-building initiatives and expressed appreciation for the PNP’s proactive stance on safety and security.
The Bataan PNP’s participation underscores the importance of public-private partnerships in advancing public safety, particularly in areas with industrial operations.
With a plant based in Lamao, Limay town, Orica is the largest provider of commercial explosives and blasting systems to the mining, quarrying, oil and gas, and construction markets. It is also a global leader in providing ground support for mining and tunneling and a leading supplier of sodium cyanide for gold extraction.
