CANDON CITY, Ilocos Sur — Police authorities arrested a 49-year-old businessman on Friday after confiscating several firearms and live ammunition during a search warrant operation in Candon City, Ilocos Sur, on Friday.
Based on reports submitted to Col. Agusto M. Asuncion, Ilocos Sur police director, members of the Candon City Police Station, in coordination with the 2nd Ilocos Sur Mobile Force Company, carried out the operation by virtue of a Search Warrant issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 8, Family Court, Candon City. The warrant was issued for violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
Asuncion said police recovered one Caliber .22 rifle, one Caliber .45 pistol, one Caliber .38 pistol, three magazine assemblies, and 37 rounds of live ammunition of various calibers during the operation.
The suspect and the confiscated firearms were brought to the Candon City Police Station for documentation and proper disposition. A criminal case is being prepared for filing against the arrested individual.
