ARAYAT, Pampanga — A bush fire broke out once again on Mount Arayat on Friday after extreme heat and dry conditions set the stage for another blaze.
The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) in Pampanga reported that the fire started on the La Paz-Turu side of the mountain. It’s the second fire in just two days, following another blaze on Thursday night, which has raised concerns among local authorities.
The hot, dry conditions gripping much of the country have created the perfect environment for small fires to spread quickly. The intense heat and dry vegetation are making it harder to control the flames, and there are fears that the fire could spread even further if not contained soon.
Rescue teams and volunteers are working hard to keep an eye on the situation, but the soaring temperatures are making firefighting efforts more challenging. Pampanga, being one of the provinces in Central Luzon experiencing extreme heat, is struggling to fight the flames under such tough conditions.
The DENR’s PENRO Pampanga is urging everyone to pitch in and help prevent the fire from spreading. They’re reminding the public of the importance of being prepared, protecting the forests and taking collective responsibility, especially during periods of extreme heat.
“We must stay vigilant and work together to protect Mt. Arayat,” the officials said, stressing the importance of unity in the face of these challenges.
