Rain or shine, at any time of day really, nothing quite gives more pleasure than having a tall cup of Halo-Halo, this much-loved Pinoy iconic chilled layered dessert that’s usually concocted with a mix of shaved ice, coconut or evaporated milk, sweetened beans, bits of fruits and jellies mixed together and topped, sometimes, with a scoop of ice cream.
My mouth waters as I write this and no other Halo-Halo activates my salivary glands more than this brand I’ve stumbled upon of late — Bebang.
What makes Bebang particularly scrumptious, for me, is the fact that it has more ingredients than most Halo-Halos, tastes creamier and flavorful till you’re done with the container.
Creamier, flavorful? Yes and yes. And that’s because instead of the usual ice shavings, Bebang muses milk which is first frozen before its shaved into the mix, allowing an aficionado of the dessert to enjoy a much creamier Halo-Halo with no watered-down flavor till the cup is slurped clean.
Bebang has sufficient variants for Halo-Halo lovers to choose from — at least 15? — and because I’m partial to ube, I’m naturally drawn towards Bebang Halokay Ube. I don’t know what “Halokay” means, but ube I am familiar with: purple-hued yam with a mild nutty taste that’s particularly agreeable to my palate, and which is the central ingredient to my favorite among Bebang’s offerings.
This one is a real treat for me, with ube-flavored frozen milk poured into a 16oz. cup containing small mounds of ube, pandan jelly, corn bits, sago, nata, banana cinnamon, leche flan, jackfruit (langka) and macapuno, sprinkled with rice crispies. Super addictive, certified yummy!
It’s because the daily rush can rob us of verve that we must make an effort to pause — take a moment each morning to savor the gift of another day.
Savor the bite of every crust coated with everyone’s favorite spread, Nutella.
Your morning mood sets the tone for the rest of the day, and many Filipinos prefer to start their mornings with positivity, often through a warm breakfast and good company.
This summer, Nutella gives the best reason to slow down, enjoy the moment and rediscover the simple pleasures of a yummy bite.
Nutella enhances even the simplest breakfast with its rich, creamy hazelnut and cocoa spread. And the brand’s new limited-edition packaging, featuring scenic landscapes of Mt. Pulag, Osmeña Peak and Siargao, serves as a reminder to make the most of each morning.
The packaging is a subtle nudge to appreciate life’s small joys — good food, good company and a beautiful view. Nutella pairs perfectly with classic Filipino breakfast staples like pandesal, monay, or kababayan, or with something new, like the Ube Nutella Soufflé Pancakes created by Chef Reynold Poernomo.
Whether enjoyed at home, in the garden, or during a beach getaway, Nutella encourages Filipinos to take a moment to appreciate the morning and share a meaningful meal together.
