Actress and beauty queen Michelle Marquez Dee has been recognized by the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry Inc. (FFCCCII) during its awarding ceremony on Wednesday, coinciding with the Chinese New Year celebration.
Dee was among several notable figures honored by the Filipino-Chinese community, including actor Dennis Trillo, athlete Chris Tiu, designer Kenneth Cobonpue, journalist Jessica Soho, and screenwriter Ricky Lee.
Although Dee was unable to attend the event in person, she expressed her gratitude on social media.
“Gong Xi Fa Cai! Can’t deny — I’ve been waiting for the year of the SNAKE,” she wrote.
For Dee, the recognition is a testament to embracing her cultural heritage.
“I’ve always believed that embracing our roots gives us the strength to create impact beyond borders. As we celebrate the #YearOfTheSnake, I’m honored to be recognized once again by the FFCCCII for my contributions to the Filipino-Chinese community both locally and internationally. Although I’m not there physically to accept the recognition, I’m deeply honored and forever grateful,” she shared.
She ended her message by wishing everyone a prosperous new year.
Dee represented the Philippines at Miss Universe 2023 in El Salvador, where she placed in the Top 10 and won several special awards.
