The Caloocan City Police apprehended several ordinance violators on Christmas Day and the day after, only to discover they were also carrying illegal drugs.
On 25 December, two individuals in Barangay 145, Bagong Barrio, were stopped by officers from Bagong Barrio Police Sub-Station 5 for violating City Ordinance 0439, which prohibits walking in public places without shirts. When officers attempted to issue an Ordinance Violation Receipt, the suspects resisted and tried to flee.
During a routine search, authorities found two sachets of suspected shabu weighing 8.7 grams, with an estimated street value of P59,160. The suspects now face charges for violating the ordinance, disobedience to a person in authority under Article 151 of the Revised Penal Code, and Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The next day, another man was apprehended in Caloocan for urinating in a public area, violating City Ordinance 0380. A subsequent search revealed 98 grams of suspected shabu, valued at P666,400.
The suspect will similarly face charges for ordinance violation, disobedience and violations under RA 9165.
