After four years of marriage, celebrity couple Megan Young and Mikael Daez announced on Friday that they are expecting their first child.
In true gamer fashion, they took their excitement on Instagram with a Super Mario-themed video, cutely showing the ultrasound as player three.
“A new beginning for us,” Young said in the caption.
Back in 2022, the couple openly discussed being at peace with the possibility of not having kids, noting that they weren’t actively planning for it.
“If we have kids, then we have kids. And if we don’t, then we don’t. So, if I get pregnant, okay. And if not, then we continue living life,” Young said on their podcast.
The couple also mentioned that they are still open to having a family, but expressed that it was no longer something they considered an automatic step for marriage. Their perspective shifted after reflecting on various aspects of married life.
In the same podcast, the Miss World 2013 titleholder also admitted that she has fears for the changes it would bring to her body.
“I guess I’m afraid of having complications for myself and for the child if ever we do get pregnant. My number one fear is getting sick or dying, honestly, from having a baby,” she said.
The couple announced that they will welcome Baby Daez in 2025, ending the video with a touching moment: Young’s placing her hand on her baby bump as Diaz kissed her forehead.
Family members were among the first to celebrate the announcement.
Young’s sister, Lauren, shared her excitement in the comments.
“AUNTIE LOWHLOWH IS READY!!!!!!!!!!! I love you guys!!!!!!!!!!!,” the younger Young said.
Emilio, brother of Mikael, also shared the anticipation.
“WOWWWWW LETS GO TITO EMILIO IS HERE,” he commented.
Celebrity friends and fans also flooded the comments with congratulations, proud of the milestone the couple has taken.
"Omemmjilii congratsss, may kasama ka na po mag-aju nice,” a fan commented.
Young is known for being a K-pop fan and has been seen attending concerts of South Korean acts like Seventeen’s ”Be The Sun” in Manila and “Follow Tour” in Bulacan.
“She finally conquered her fear,” another fan comment said.
Young and Daez have been together as a couple for over nine years before tying the knot on the 25th of January 2020.
