The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) held the 3rd Workshop for Technical and Business Cooperation on Road Construction and Operation and Maintenance on Friday, 6 December at the Diamond Hotel in Manila. The event brought together government officials and private sector representatives from both nations to discuss advancements in road construction and maintenance.
Ambassador Endo Kazuya, DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan, and MLIT Assistant Vice-Minister Hashimoto Masamichi formally welcomed participants to the workshop. A series of presentations and booth exhibits showcased innovations and practices in road infrastructure development and operational excellence.
The event also featured a ceremony honoring Secretary Bonoan, who received the 2024 International Lifetime Contribution Award from the Japan Society of Civil Engineers (JSCE). Ambassador Endo congratulated Bonoan, recognizing his pivotal role in advancing Philippine infrastructure and fostering closer ties between Japan and the Philippines.
