Two drug peddlers were nabbed in separate buy-bust operations carried out by operatives of the Quezon City Police District early morning Sunday that also netted P497,000 worth of illegal drugs.
The first operation, led by the QCPD District Drug Enforcement Unit, nabbed Reynante Basbaño, 35, a resident of Sitio San Roque, Brgy. Bagong Pag-asa.
QCPD-DEU chief P/Maj. Wennie Ann Cale said at 2:00 a.m. on 12 November 2023, a buy-bust operation was conducted by the operatives in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) along Agham Road corner Madrigal St., Sitio San Roque, Brgy. Bagong Pag-asa, after a concerned citizen reported the drug peddling activity of the suspect.
A police officer acted as poseur buyer bought P10,500 worth of shabu from Basbaño and at the given pre-arranged signal, he was arrested.
Confiscated from the suspect were 55 grams of shabu valued at P374,00, a brown pouch, a cellular phone, and the buy-bust money.
Meanwhile, the Holy Spirit Police Station (PS 14), under P/Lt.Col. May Genio, arrested Rustan Danico Oarga, 38, at No. 1 St., Level Individual (SLI), and a resident of Brgy. Pasong Tamo, Quezon City.
He was arrested at 2:00 a.m. on 12 November 2023, along Capaz St., Brgy. Holy Spirit, Quezon City.
Confiscated from Oarga's possession were 1,025 grams of marijuana leaves with fruiting tops valued at P123,000, a white tote bag, one unit Suzuki Raider motorcycle, and the buy-bust money.
The arrested suspects will be charged with violation of R.A. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 before the Quezon City Prosecutor's Office.
P/Brig.Gen. Red Maranan, QCPD Director, lauded the operatives for their perseverance and dedication in their sworn duties most especially in the relentless campaign against illegal drugs.
