NWPC approves new Western Visayas workers’ wage order

ILOILO CITY — Private sector and agricultural workers in Western Visayas are set to receive a P40 to P45 increase in their daily minimum wage following approval of the region’s new wage order by the National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC).
Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE) Region 6 director and Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) 6 chairperson Sixto Rodriguez Jr. confirmed the NWPC’s approval, citing that regional officials are awaiting the formal document before executing the new pay rates.
Under the approved wage order, non-agricultural workers in establishments employing more than 10 workers will receive a P40 increase, raising their daily minimum wage from P550 to P590.
Workers in non-agricultural establishments with 10 or fewer employees will also receive a P40 daily raise, bringing their minimum pay from P525 to P565.
Agricultural workers across the region will see a P45 daily increase, raising their minimum wage from P520 to P565.
The wage order also provides a P500 monthly pay hike for domestic workers, raising their minimum monthly wage from P6,500 to P7,000.
Rodriguez reminded employers that compliance with the new wage structure will be mandatory once the order officially takes effect following publication.
He encouraged business owners to implement the adjustments voluntarily ahead of the effective date to prevent labor disputes and worker grievances.
DoLE Region 6 officials confirmed they will conduct regular workplace inspections across the region to ensure full employer compliance once the higher wage rates take effect.
