LTO trains Urdaneta garbage truck drivers on road safety

Garbage truck drivers of the Urdaneta City government underwent road safety and defensive driving training on October 13 as the Land Transportation Office (LTO) Region 1 sought to reinforce compliance with traffic rules among government drivers.
The seminar was held at the City Library of the Urdaneta City Cultural Sports Complex in Urdaneta City, Pangasinan.
The training covered traffic regulations, hazard awareness, defensive driving and proper vehicle handling, with emphasis on the challenges of garbage collection, which requires trucks to make frequent stops and maneuver through residential streets and busy roads.
The activity was intended to help drivers avoid road accidents and reduce risks to pedestrians, motorists and other road users.
Garbage trucks regularly operate in areas where vehicles and pedestrians share limited road space, making safe maneuvering and awareness of surrounding traffic essential during collection operations.
The LTO Region 1 conducted the seminar under the leadership of Regional Director Glorioso Daniel Z. Martinez and Assistant Regional Director Engr. Eric C. Suriben, under the guidance of LTO chief Assistant Secretary Markus V. Lacanilao and Department of Transportation Acting Secretary Giovanni Z. Lopez.
