Theft suspect nabbed in QC follow-up operation, retired police' cellphone recovered

The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) reported Wednesday the successful arrest of a 45-year-old female resident of Barangay Ramon Magsaysay, Quezon City involved in a “salisi” theft incident.
Report from the La Loma Police Station (PS 1) revealed that a 49-year-old retired police officer discovered that his belongings had been stolen while he was asleep inside his parked vehicle at 2:35 a.m. on Tuesday early morning, 13 October 2026, along Samson Road in Barangay Apolonio Samson, Quezon City.
“This prompted him [the retired police officer] to report the incident to Brgy. Apolonio, Samson, Quezon City and later to PS 1,” the QCPD said.
Police reports continued when follow-up operatives, together with the victim, spotted a woman matching the suspect’s description along Ilocos Sur Street in Barangay Ramon Magsaysay at around 1:00 p.m. on the same day.
“The victim recognized his Infinix cellphone in the woman’s possession, prompting the officers to apprehend her and recover the stolen device,” the police report added.
Other reported stolen items, including a point 45-caliber pistol valued at ₱30,000, ₱25,000 cash, and a sling bag containing identification and bank cards, are yet to be recovered.
The suspect, according to police further verification, had six previous cases for theft on 3 April 2024, 25 February 2024, 3 November 2022, 8 December 2020, 2 August 2018 and 29 April 2016.
The suspect also violated Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and Article 151 of the Revised Penal Code or Resistance and Disobedience to a Person in Authority or Their Agents on 13 October 2018.
“The suspect is set to face a theft complaint before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office,” the QCPD stated.
